Futtsu Cape 富津岬

Hello everyone, how was your summer vacation? It was really hot, I think. We can't let down in this situation due to Corona Virus(Covid19), so we have to keep up the prevention measures such as washing our hands. I hope this situation gets better someday.

By the way, where did you go in this summer? I couldn't really go anywhere because I've been doing job hunting. but I did go somewhere for several days. This time I went to the "Futtsu Cape (富津岬)". If you don't know the place it is very famous for its very nice view spot in Chiba Prefecture.

Now, this place is famous for being a scenic spot, it was used for the defensed of the capital Tokyo from the end of theEdo period to1945 (Showa 20th). Today, there are some restaurants and amusement facilities such as a swimming pool and barbecue beach. In this summer, the pool was closed probably due to Corona Virus. In an average year, it is crowded by many families. The view from the observatory was really good, I think thanks to good wether. I could see Tokyo and Yokohama from there.

After going to the observatory, we went to a restaurant near the park, This time, the restaurant we went to was  "Takahashi たかはし". It is known for some seafoods and there are some meals such as bowl of tempura of fish and shellfish, sashimi and shellfish. At that time, I ordered the set meal of tempura. It had a very deep taste and the shrimp was big but really tender, Actually I don't like the conger eel but I ate it. it was not bad. and the miso soup with shellfish was really good.

I would like to go there again when I have time to relay.

Sarushima Island in Yokosuka

Hello everyone, how’s it going under the Corona Virus? The request to refrain from going out by the government is lifted at long last and you can go anywhere without limitation. but Corona Virus does not end, so you should still be careful about it. You have to continue to wash your hands, gargle, observe the rules of etiquette and you have to try to a new lifestyle (新しい生活様式) such as keep the “social distancing” and avoid to going out in crowds.

By the way, do you know the “Sarushima Island (猿島)” The island’s area is 4times as large as the ground of the Yokohama Stadium. It is the only desert island in Tokyo Bay. This island is also used as a location for TV dramas You can go there by  ship from Mikasa Park. It takes about 15 minutes and you can feel the nature of four seasons and you can also enjoy the outdoor activity through out the year Especially in summer, there are crowds of the families, couples and young people because swimming in the sea and having barbeques, You can enjoy a barbeque if you just bring the equipment but you should make a reservation in advance.

The island is very historical. It was  originally used as a fortress of the Japanese at the end of WW2, ordinary people were prohibited to enter the island. There is a brick tunnel and gun buttery still now. On the island, there are some spots to stroll, Especially characteristic of the island are the brick tunnel and the wall of the fortress. The atmosphere is very somber and very quiet. It feels cool when walking even in the summer. I recommend to you the place the view of the sea from the observation point. The view is very beautiful. you can see the endless ocean and the scenery of the industrial area is very fantasy. The island is not so large, so you can walk around it in about 1 hour. The closes early, so be careful not to miss the boat.

I went to Jogashima on February

Hello everyone, how’s it going under the Corona Virus? I stay at home almost every day but sometimes I go for a walk near the park around my house. Today, I’d like to talk about “Jogashima Island”. Do you know “Jogasima Island”. I went there with friends of mine in February. It is located at the Southern tip of Kanagawa and it is famous for Fishing port. You can go there by Keikyu-Line and bus. It takes around 1 hour from Yokohama. Actually, the island used to be a battery from the Meiji Era to the end of WW2.

The island is surprisingly fishing focused on tourism and there are some well known sights. This time, I'll introduce the “Jogashima Lighthouse (城ヶ島灯台)“ and the “Horseback cave gate (馬ノ背洞門)”.
“Jogashima Lighthouse (城ヶ島灯台)” was built in 1870 (Meiji Era) after the national isolation. It is a western lighthouse that was the fifth light house in Japan. Actually, it was rebuilt due to broken by the earth quake in 1923.

“The Horseback cave gate (馬ノ背洞門)”was created by erosion. Ship could go under the cave before the great earthquake in 1923. It is the best photo spot in the island. Some  tourist took some phots there. I think the best time to take a photo is in the evening between 16:00~17:00.

This area is famous for sea food. Especially, Tuna is popular. I had lunch at a restaurant on the island. It is “restaurant Maruka (お食処まるか)”. The atmosphere was quiet and it's a traditional Japanese restaurant and there were not many customers.
I ate a bowl with three kinds tuna. It included minced tuna, fatty tuna and soy sauce pickled tuna. The taste was simple and deep.

I'm afraid of the  Corona Virus, I wash my hands after going back to my home and I put on a mask when I go somewhere. This time, I would like to introduce Kamakura City. As you know, it is one of the well known  tourist sights in Japan. There are many temples and historical buildings because they were originally built by the shogunate in the Kamakura Era.

First I went to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine (鶴岡八幡宮). It is one of the landmarks in Kamakura. It is crowed with tourists from all over the world. There are enshrined three gods, Ojin Emperor (応神天皇), Himegami(比売神)and  Jingu Empress (神功皇后). And there are some national treasures and important cultural properties designated by the government.
And you can see the beautiful flowers in four seasons. Cherry blossom bloom in the spring.

And next, I went to the Houkoku-ji Shrine. the shrine famous for bamboo trees.
I could relax there because it were not noisy, but quiet.  The green of bamboo was really good. and you can stop by the cafe in the shrine to eat some sweets,  However, I didn't go there this time.

And finally I went to Enoshima Island. It is located near  Kamakura City. In the summer, it is crowded with surfer, families and couples. The weather was fine. It was really good for taking photos, I took some photos. You can see the ocean view from the top of the mountain. Cherry blossoms were in bloomed, It was really beautiful.

Hello there. Do you know  Mt. Takao and have you ever been there? It is located in Hachioji City and the height is 599 meters. It is famous for red leaves in autumn, and many people visit there. So today, I would like to introduce the Mt.Takaosan. The way to the Mt. Takao is by JR train or Keio Line. Both ways take about 90 min.

There are several ways to the summit, from easy to hard. There are 6 ways and this time, I chose the easy way. It takes about 90 minutes to the summit which is about 3.5 kilometers. As I had expected, it was easy to go to the top thanks to the paved the road.

There are some cafés and rest areas on the way to the summit, I recommend the dumplings. I ordered the sesame dumpling, The taste was strongly of sesame, but it was not too heavy and it my favorite with dumpling. And the view from the reset area was really good.

Finally, I arrived at the summit. It was crowded with visitors, so I couldn’t rest well there. Even though I walked a long way to the summit, I was not tried so much.I will try to go another way in the spring.
